SmartSynch SmartMeters and GridRouters communicate using the largest and most widely available wireless networks in the world.

SmartSynch SmartMeters and GridRouters may be equipped to use the CDMA/1xRTT wireless protocol for two-way communication with the host system. CDMA is a “spread spectrum” technology, allowing many users to occupy the same time and frequency allocations in a given band/space. CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) assigns unique codes to each communication to differentiate it from others in the same spectrum. CDMA2000, which includes 1xRTT data delivery technology, provides increased network capacity to meet growing demand for wireless services and high-speed data services. The CDMA protocol is a global standard and allows SmartSynch SmartMeters to be deployed virtually anywhere. The standards-based IP connectivity enabled in every SmartSynch device makes them adaptable and remotely upgradable to support the emerging Smart Grid's sensor and communications needs.
