Smart Grid Leaders to Convene in New Orleans for SmartSynch Conference 2010: “Enabling Communication for the Smart Grid”

Conference to Showcase How Open, IP-Based Collaboration Is Transforming the World’s Electrical Infrastructure

Jackson, MS — January 7, 2010

SmartSynch, Inc., a smart grid infrastructure company using standard IP communications through public wireless networks, announced that it will host SmartSynch Conference 2010: “Enabling Communication for the Smart Grid” – an event designed to foster dialogue about collaborative technologies among utility representatives, smart grid industry analysts and executives from the largest wireless network providers. The event will be held April 26-28 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans. Headlined by keynote speaker and broadcast journalist Tom Brokaw, the event will feature formal and informal discussions about using open, public communications to enable grid digitization at a truly universal scale.

“This is not your typical conference, as the sessions will be fewer in number, but with more substance,” said Campbell McCool, SmartSynch’s Chief Marketing Officer. “They won't be lectures, but interactive sessions led by industry thought leaders. Participants will leave with real-time information about where communications for the smart grid is today and more importantly where it will be tomorrow.”

Conference sessions will be moderated by Jesse Berst, the leading smart grid industry analyst and the managing director for Global Smart Energy. Topics include:

  • Building smart grid ecosystems amongst several technology and service providers;
  • Communication protocols and security;
  • Utility strategies for deriving maximum output from technology investments; and
  • Methods for ensuring that smart grid investments can be updated and enhanced without fear of obsolescence.
