Mississippi Company’s New GridRouter™ Product Named World’s #5 Green Technology Concept for 2009 by Industry Experts

Revolutionary smart grid product joins modular nuclear power, laser-induced fusion, gravity power, recycled water and solar powered air conditioners on distinguished list

Jackson, MS — January 11, 2010

SmartSynch, Inc., a smart grid infrastructure company utilizing standard IP communications via public wireless networks, announced today that its new GridRouter™ smart grid product has been recognized as the #5 High Technology Concept in the World for 2009 by leading green technology market research and analysis firm GreenTech Media of Cambridge, Mass.

Formally launched in early December, the GridRouter™ is the first universal smart grid communications solution enabling utilities to seamlessly and easily communicate with every possible device on their automated electricity grids regardless of make, model or communication protocol.

GreenTech Media ranked the GridRouter™ fifth on the list, which was not specific to the Smart Grid space, but rather included ALL technology innovation across all green technology industries. To put this in perspective, Modular Nuclear Power and Laser-Induced Fusion were the top two concepts.
GreenTech Media had this to say about the SmartSynch GridRouter™:

The Everything Box for Smart Grid: SmartSynch came up with a way to ameliorate the standards battle in smart grid: create a router that can adapt to whatever networking protocol a utility wants to adopt. If it sounds like this is something that should have been invented a while ago, don't feel alone. It's a common reaction. Expect Cisco and others to follow.

“The GridRouter is the ‘Rosetta Stone’ of the smart grid because it allows multiple digital energy language users to quickly understand each other for the first time,” said SmartSynch CEO Stephen Johnston. “This product is the future of our industry, and we are delighted that our vision and efforts are being recognized accordingly, particularly by our utility customers, whose response to the GridRouter launch has exceeded our wildest expectations.”

Johnston said the GridRouter will transform the smart grid by opening the door to new applications and networks, utilizing greater bandwidth and increasing functionality – similar to how network routers transformed the Internet from slow, one-dimensional Web sites to a high bandwidth experience with voice and video.

“This is tremendous recognition for the professionals at SmartSynch, an organically grown Mississippi company, and it completely validates our message that it is possible to design and develop world-changing innovative technology solutions right here in Mississippi,” said Tony Jeff, President & CEO of the Mississippi Technology Alliance. “SmartSynch is an outstanding company that proves innovation and technology are the building blocks for a stronger economy.”
