SmartSynch Expands North American Sales ForceIncreased Demand for Advanced Metering Leads to Growth of Company Jackson, Miss. — March 20, 2006 SmartSynch Inc., a global leader in wireless metering technology, recently announced a significant expansion of its North American sales force in response to a growing demand for its advanced metering solutions. The nine-member sales team brings to SmartSynch over 150 years of combined industry experience. “With the continued success of our commercial and industrial wireless advanced metering products, along with the forthcoming release of our residential SmartMeter, we have seen a significant rise in the demand among utilities for our technology,” said industry veteran Danny Shirley, who assumes the role of Vice President of Sales. “SmartSynch’s enhanced sales force is equipped with both the industry experience and the talent necessary to establish new industry partnerships and foster the delivery of exceptional service in the field. Additionally, as a complement to our direct sales force, we have created a new sales engineering group, which will provide dedicated technical sales guidance to our customers.” Shirley began his career as Head of Sales for Datamatic, a systems integrator that designs automated metering systems for the utility industry, and later joined Itron as Vice President of Business Development for the emerging Genesis Automated Meter Reading Systems Group. He went on to serve as Vice President of Sales for Metricom, where he introduced the Utilinet and Ricochet technologies to the utility industry for applications in advanced metering and distribution automation. Before joining SmartSynch earlier this year, he was a founder and Executive Vice President of Diverse Networks Inc., a professional services company focusing on wireless data network design and operations outsourcing in the energy and utility markets. Nangy Gul continues to lead SmartSynch’s western U.S. sales efforts. He joined SmartSynch in 2002 with more than 14 years of experience in the electric, gas and water utility industries, and has worked for Omaha Public Power District, CellNet Data Systems/Schlumberger and Nertec. Prior to joining SmartSynch, he was Director of Customer Solutions for Nertec. Covering the southeastern U.S. is David Farris, a sales strategist whose experience in the industry spans over 20 years. He has led major sales initiatives for several hi-tech firms, including Advanced Control Systems, Hunt Technologies, Itron, American Meter Company, Indus International and Datamatic. Serving the midwest is Tom Campbell, who has over 25 years of industry experience. He was most recently with Itron in their End User Solutions Group, prior to which he spent 14 years as Director of Business Development for Elster-AMCO. The northeastern sector of the U.S. is covered by Don Dodson, who has over 15 years’ experience providing utilities with hardware and software related to metering, billing and outage management. He has led sales and marketing efforts for several technology companies, including SPL WorldGroup, MDSI Mobile Data Solutions, Severn Trent Systems and Price Waterhouse. Leading Canadian sales is John Feltis, Vice President of SmartSynch Ltd., the company’s Canadian subsidiary. Before joining SmartSynch, Feltis served in the industry for over 20 years, most recently as Managing Director of Sales for The SPi Group in Toronto. Prior to embarking on a successful career as a consultant for many of Ontario’s Local Distribution Companies (LDCs), he held metering and management positions within several of the province’s LDCs. Also in the Canadian market, Dan Donovan has worked in public-sector sales and marketing for the past decade, servicing Ontario’s utilities and government at both the provincial and local levels. Prior to joining SmartSynch, he worked in sales for The SPi Group, where he was responsible for providing managed services and software solutions to Ontario’s electricity distributors. SmartSynch’s sales team now includes two sales engineers to provide in-depth technical support for prospective industry customers and partners. Leading this department is Gary Moody, who joined SmartSynch in 2004 with over 20 years of technical and sales experience. He served as General Manager for Power Measurement Inc., where he was responsible for the initial expansion of the Canadian company’s Square D metering efforts and later for the successful opening of its U.S. operations. Sales engineer Octavio Reza joined SmartSynch earlier this year, prior to which he led sales efforts in Latin America for Telenetics Corporation.
