SmartSynch Honored at 2009 M2M Magazine Value Chain Awards GalaJackson, MS — June 23, 2009 SmartSynch was recently honored at the 2009 M2M Magazine Value Chain Awards Gala recognizing the most successful adopters of machine-to-machine (M2M) technology and the teams that made their successes possible. SmartSynch received a Silver Award in the Energy/Utilities category for their work with Motorola Wireless Modules to deliver smart grid technology to Trico Electric Cooperative in Tucson, Arizona. Trico Electric Cooperative has deployed SmartSynch’s A3 electricity meters for their commercial and industrial customers at select hard-to-reach locations across their service territory. SmartSynch’s smart grid solution, powered by the Motorola G24 wireless module, utilizes GPRS networks to transmit billing data to Trico headquarters. Trico was able to strategically spot-deploy SmartSynch’s A3 smart meter and drastically reduce the amount of labor time required to bill their accounts each month. What previously required 60 hours of labor each month now takes only 5 minutes. In addition to saving time, Trico’s deployment of SmartSynch and Motorola’s smart grid solution offers many more benefits like outage notification e-mails sent over GPRS, meter error reporting, and improved time-of-use data for better overall customer satisfaction. “The recipients of the 2009 Value Chain Awards have truly found a way to implement machine-to-machine technology to its fullest potential, using all parts of the value chain to achieve their goals,” said Mike Carrozzo, chief editor, M2M magazine. “We hope that other adopters see the benefits of M2M implementation and strive to find the same success, becoming future Value Chain Award winners.” The winners of the Value Chain Awards are determined by an independent panel of industry analysts and experts.
